Nude?

Nude?

I’ve always had a great deal of nudity in my drawings.

I am fascinated by the mystery of women. Then came a long phase of fantasy, science fiction and space, very little of which has survived the passage of time. The use of the nude took its place naturally, without any conscious decision.

Basically, I’m a lover of movement, dance and the beauty of bodies moving in the environment. Looking back, it’s that spark, that fleeting moment of wonder at first discoveries that I want to recapture.

The balance in my life is reflected in my artistic practice, with an increasingly faithful rendering of my inner self. This includes the recent emergence of a male presence in images. My inner landscape comes to life with these humans dancing their living emotions on paper. And this is done with the support of bodies in their simplest expressions, with a minimum of artifice.

Why draw?

Why draw?

Why create images and draw is a very good question.

And it’s one that I’ve often asked myself and that comes up again and again. In addition to the time I devote to this occupation, from the sketch, the black and white and colour version, the social sharing as well as the website.

The first possibility: I express myself in this way for the same reason that you breathe. It’s an act that calls to me and takes up all the space until it’s fulfilled. And these are moments of grace, peace, tranquillity and trance-like intensity.

Another: it allows me to express my secret garden, my emotions, dreams, desires and imagination.

Thirdly, it connects me with people and the world around me through observing, creating and sharing images.

It’s a mixture of all these points that inspires me to draw.

The moon, you say?

The moon, you say?

Well, yes, the moon appears periodically in my images, and it’s bound to come back.

I consider myself a lover of the moon and stars in general. When I’m walking and it’s getting dark, I often find myself looking up at the sky.

I’m drawn to all things light/dark and the play of light. The penumbra and its subtleties are multiplied to my understanding under the moonlight. What’s more, I’m inspired by the whole symbolic and cultural charge that goes with it, including the notion of the cycle and the link to the feminine. It also touches on the world of dreams, the ephemeral and the fantastic, something that has always interested me.

For all these reasons, the moon is part of my imagination and my everyday life.

A night bird

My best time to create is between 11pm and 2am. At least in the evening.

It’s that moment when everything seems to be at a standstill that gives me the peace I need to refocus, to take a break from my day, to silence my thoughts and let my emotions express themselves through images without restraint.

It’s also the presence of the enveloping darkness and the glow of the moon, when it’s there, that soothe me and remove the barriers of reason that block the creative flow in my case.

If it’s earlier, I play music to recreate the atmosphere. Trance, classical, epic, electronic, Celtic and similar genres.

Peace and quiet are my main essentials.
